How Zunqari works, how accurate it is, and which unit conventions it uses.
General
Is Zunqari free?
Yes. Every converter is free to use, with no account, no signup and no usage limit.
Are my conversions sent to a server?
No. All calculations run in your browser on your own device. The numbers you type into a converter are not sent to Zunqari or anyone else.
How accurate are the results?
The converter uses the official definitions of each unit, such as 1 inch = 2.54 cm and 1 pound = 0.45359237 kg, and calculates with full double precision. Results are then rounded for display. Choose 2, 4 or 6 decimals if you need a fixed number of decimal places.
What does the “Auto” precision setting do?
Auto shows up to 4 decimal places for numbers of 1 or more, and 4 significant digits for numbers smaller than 1, so tiny results such as 0.0003937 stay readable. Very large or very small numbers are shown in scientific notation, such as 1.5e+18.
Can I type a comma as a decimal separator?
Yes. “2,5” is read as 2.5. A comma between groups of three digits, as in “1,000” or “12,500.75”, is read as a thousands separator.
Why can’t I enter negative values for most units?
Lengths, weights, volumes, durations and similar quantities can’t be negative, so the converter asks for 0 or more. Temperatures can be negative in Celsius and Fahrenheit, down to absolute zero.
Which gallon, cup and fluid ounce do you use?
Both US customary and UK imperial versions are available and labeled in the unit list. Conversion pages that just say “gallons”, “cups” or “fl oz” use US units and state this on the page.
Is a gigabyte 1,000 or 1,024 megabytes?
On Zunqari, GB means the decimal gigabyte: 1,000 MB, or 10⁹ bytes. The binary unit of 1,024 MiB is called a gibibyte (GiB) and is listed separately.
Which horsepower does the power converter use?
Both are available. Mechanical horsepower (hp, about 745.7 W) is used in the US and the UK. Metric horsepower (PS, pk or CV, exactly 735.49875 W) is used in much of Europe.
Does Zunqari work on my phone?
Yes. The site is designed for phones, tablets and desktops. The converter works with touch input and on-screen keyboards, and the page never scrolls sideways.
I found a mistake or want a new unit. How do I tell you?
Use the contact form. Reports of incorrect results are especially welcome and are checked against the official unit definitions.
